General Summary: The Student Engagement Support Specialist promotes,
coordinates, and administers co-curricular programs, events, and activities
that enhance student involvement outside of the classroom. This role supports
recreational, social, cultural, and educational programming; advises and
assists student clubs and organizations; and collaborates on campus-wide and
college-wide initiatives.
The position serves on-campus, virtual, and
evening student populations and functions as a key departmental contact during
evening programming at the Allegheny Campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High
School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred
- Minimum
of one (1) year of related experience in student engagement, event
planning, student programming, or student services
- Experience
in a college or higher education setting preferred
- Technological
proficiency with student engagement platforms, virtual programming tools,
and basic marketing systems
- Ability
and willingness to travel to other college locations as needed
- Ability
to work evening hours based on student and center needs
Duties: The Student Engagement
Support Specialist promotes, coordinates, and administers co-curricular
programs, events, and activities that enhance student involvement outside of
the classroom. This role supports recreational, social, cultural, and
educational programming; advises and assists student clubs and organizations;
and collaborates on campus-wide and college-wide initiatives.
With a primary assignment at
CCAC’s Allegheny Campus, this position also plays a key role in basic needs
support, including coordination of the Campus Cupboard and Closet.
Student Programming &
Engagement
- Plan,
coordinate, and implement co-curricular programs and events for
center-based, on-campus, virtual, and evening students
- Explore,
develop, and execute opportunities for both active and passive student
engagement
- Assist
with campus-wide and college-wide initiatives such as New Student
Orientation, Welcome Week, and major student celebrations
- Publicize
and promote events using inclusive and engaging marketing strategies
- Collaborate
with Student Life & Engagement staff across campuses and centers to
ensure equitable access to programming
Student Organization
Support
- Support
and advise student clubs and organizations in planning and delivering
quality programming
- Provide
guidance on event logistics, engagement strategies, and departmental
procedures
- Collaborate
with student leaders, faculty, and staff to produce joint programming
across the College
Campus Cupboard &
Basic Needs Support
- Assist
with and support the daily operation of the Campus Cupboard at the
assigned Center
- Greet
all clients and visitors in a welcoming, respectful, and non-judgmental
manner
- Ensure
the pantry is organized, clean, and stocked before, during, and after open
hours
- Accept,
inspect, sort, and record food and non-food donations
- Monitor
expiration dates and packaging integrity; remove expired or unsafe items
- Rotate
inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
- Stock
shelves, storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers in a safe and
organized manner
- Conduct
regular inventory counts and assist with ordering supplies
- Maintain
accurate records of inventory levels, usage trends, and high-demand items
- Collaborate
with campus and college partners to support basic needs initiatives
Operational &
Administrative Support
- Order
supplies, materials, and equipment for events, programming, and Campus
Cupboard operations
- Supervise,
mentor, and support student employees and student leaders
- Attend
departmental, campus, and college-wide meetings
- Serve
as a point of contact for students, faculty, and staff regarding student
engagement programs, services, and resources
Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
