General Summary: Supervises all activities related to adjunct faculty, adjunct faculty recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluating, seniority-tracking, loading, training, systems integration and off-boarding.
Requirements: Master's degree in Education or a field related to the curriculum of CCAC and a minimum of five years’ experience in higher education (administrative and community college experience preferred). Preferred experience with adjunct teaching at CCAC. Ability to manage multiple projects, people and problems simultaneously. Confidence and willingness to learn new things related to the system-wide functional area of the dean and the disciplines and programs offered on the campus and at the center(s). Ability to manage people and difficult situations in a reasonable and humanistic manner. Demonstrated experience with problem solving. Excellent communication, organization, accountability, writing and mediation skills.
Ability to supervise adjunct faculty and staff and demonstrated leadership skills. Objectivity in working with diverse individuals and groups. Computer, budget management and program coordination skills.
Duties: - Facilitates and supports the Academic staffing and HR operations of all campuses and centers in the successful development of pools of qualified adjunct faculty.
- Recruits, assesses and arranges for the interviews and consideration of
adjuncts in coordination with the campus-based deans.
- Monitors receipt of adjunct clearances
and official transcripts from applicants.
- Schedules adjunct candidates for preliminary orientation as well as
onboard training.
- Monitors and maintains the levels of instructional staff available to the
College at all times to meet instructional needs based on demand, even when staffing needs arise unexpectedly in mid-semester.
- Evaluates
adjunct faculty and division/departmental staff in coordination with campus deans.
- Reviews
and tracks the survey of student opinion adjunct faculty evaluation data from
all campuses.
- Schedules,
coordinates and runs meetings for adjuncts, including soliciting for agenda
items.
- Serves as an ombudsperson for the new adjuncts in addition to any mentoring services the campus offers.
- Logs and tracks adjunct seniority and notify campus deans of the
probationary status of adjuncts each semester.
- Provides training as needed for department heads to support their work
with adjuncts.
- Enforces
CCAC policies and procedures that apply to all faculty and division staff.
- Serves on
search committees, task forces and/or participates on special projects as needed..
- Ensures adjunct services are provided for off-site instructors, including
professional development, for union programs, school districts, etc.
- Ensures that a separation decision at one campus will be effective on all campuses.
- Performs
other duties as assigned.
Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
