General Summary:  The Program Director assists the Dean of Business and Technology in providing strategic and operational support across all locations for the accounting, business, and professional services’ programs in coordination with the various Program Coordinators, Department Heads, and Faculty to ensure the overall success of programs, consistent delivery of instruction to students, follow-through with initiatives, and relationships with external partners (including the local unions). This faculty leadership role will serve as both a program coordinator for the business, accounting, and economics disciplines and as a program director for all programs in the above-listed categories overseeing, collaborating, and assisting the academic division with a variety of tasks, such as collegewide scheduling, staffing, initiatives, partnerships, assessment activities, student questions, credit-transfer decisions, and resource allocation.

Only current full-time AFT faculty members may apply. Candidate must have immediate experience teaching in one of the disciplines related to this role. Department head experience or program coordinator experience is preferred.



Job Duties:  
  1. Serve as the Single Point of Contact for all business, accounting, and professional academic programs within the division of Business and Technology, working closely with the academic deans, individual program coordinators, department heads, and faculty to ensure consistent application of academic policies and procedures in efforts to ensure a high-quality, rigorous, and consistent experience for students in these programs collegewide.
  2. Actively Support and Communicate regularly with program coordinators, department heads, and faculty; Facilitate ongoing informal discussions with faculty; Scheduling at least two meetings per semester, providing meeting minutes and elevating any issues of concern to academic deans.
  3. Support academic deans and department heads in scheduling and staffing collegewide, helping to consistently implement strategic scheduling objectives; Promote the use of data to make scheduling decisions based on student preferences and enrollment trends; Gather and communicate scheduling recommendations from program coordinators to department heads for consideration; Assist with proofreading schedules for consistency and accuracy; Answer questions and provide justification for decisions to academic deans or registrar’s office as requested.
  4. Assist with adjunct and affiliated faculty recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and training with department heads and associate deans, as requested.
  5. Collect and analyze semester and assessment data for programs of responsibility; Encourage faculty participation in ongoing assessment work and assist with implementing recommendations to show innovation in improving student learning outcomes; Facilitate program reviews, adhering to Middle States timelines; Document assessment work and provide a summary report to academic deans prior to the start of each semester.
  6. Coordinate requests for transfer credits from prior learning, considering academic work at other institutions, non-credit/industry training, and professional certifications/licensures; Facilitate discussions with faculty as needed.
  7. Support faculty with separate program accreditation and/or adherence to Middle States standards, PA State, and Federal regulations, including adopting new guidelines. Assist with electronic documentation coordination and recordkeeping, as needed.
  8. Assist department heads, program coordinators, and faculty with inventory, equipment, division spaces, and facilities for applicable programs; Collaborates and plans spaces and purchases for programs; Review/approve programmatic purchases and budgets in conjunction with the department head and academic deans; Advocate for operational and capital budgeting requests for programs, collecting information from others as appropriate; Assist with Perkins requests, if applicable.
  9. Participate in evaluation of new initiatives, grants, industry, community, and other partnership opportunities; Help to prioritize requests and determine feasibility; Facilitate faculty discussions for input as needed.
  10. Assist with promotion of programs in partnership with marking, admissions, enrollment services, and other departments collegewide; Facilitate faculty coverage and participation in promotional events; Collaborate with marketing to ensure program marketing materials are current; Review and request updates to Website as needed, ensuring accurate information is reflected.
  11. Assists academic deans and department heads with off-site learning and program development, including at training centers, businesses, community centers, and school districts.
  12. Prepare a program report with collaboration from program coordinators and department chairs and submit it to the Dean at the end of each semester.
  13. Other duties related to the above items may be requested as needed.


Clearance:  Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
