General Summary:  Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of programming for the CCAC Public Safety Institute.

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, fire science, emergency medical or related field and a minimum of three years experience OR Associate’s degree in business, public administration, fire science, emergency medical, or related field and a minimum of five years of public safety industry sector experience. EMT, EMS instructor, CPR instructor, FF1, FF2 and PSFA-I certifications are required/in progress/or having eligibility to obtain. Management, administrative, interpersonal and supervisory skills recommended. Experience as an emergency responder required. Experience in a regulatory environment and in meeting compliance directives.

Duties:  

1.       Supervises and/or coordinates programs offered by the Public Safety Institute.

2.       Interfaces with other departments within CCAC as well as outside entities germane to the delivery of public safety training and education to promote the Institute.

3.       Directs and supervises department staff.

4.       Collaborates with the director to recruit and recommend appropriate instructors and coordinators of the Institute.

5.       Assists with the recruitment of students.

6.       Monitors and coordinates enrollment and support services for students at the Institute.

7.       Works with appropriate city, county and state personnel to identify and address public safety training needs for Allegheny County and other identified counties.

8.       Assists with oversight of public safety training and sites to ensure local, regional and state rules, regulations and guidelines are adhered to.

9.       Approves certification and re-certification of EMS instructors.

10.    Identifies, develops and/or coordinates learning sites and partnerships as needed.

11.    Acts as administrator for CCAC’s American Heart Association Community Training Center with oversight for 300+ AHA instrcutors

12.    Performs other duties as assigned.

Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
