General Summary: Oversees
mid-level managers including directors of workforce training and certification
programs and community education. Facilitates demand-driven training with business/industry,
economic develop partners and academic discipline faculty. Supervises and assists with the development
of grants and special projects to address workforce training needs in the
region.
Requirements: Master’s
Degree in a related field (Doctorate preferred) and a minimum of five years progressive
experience in all areas of workforce development including corporate
partnerships, new program development, high demand occupations, apprenticeship
and certification programs. Familiarity
with federal, state and local funding opportunities. Strong commitment to
demand-driven workforce training model in a fast paced environment. Excellent
oral and written communication skills. Experience with financial forecasting and
budget responsibilities. Familiarity
with trade union environment a plus.
Duties: - Assists and acts as designee for the Vice President of Workforce in developing and maintaining partnerships with employers, unions, and other agencies throughout the region to maximize opportunities for training, grant initiatives, and partnerships.
- Supervises and assist as needed with the development and design of demand driven workforce programs curriculum
- Oversees the development of design of relevant workforce curriculum and community education programming to advance the implementation of prior learning assessment (PLA) and formalized pathways to academic programs where appropriate.
- Provides operational leadership and oversight in managing day-to-day activities within the Workforce Development Division.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge in the areas of workforce development and continuing education including staying informed by attending relevant economic and workforce related training and networking events and conferences
- Travel to other relevant community venues, CCAC campus and center locations to support workforce training activities as required.
- Initiate, develop, and maintain employer relationships to promote revenue-generating opportunities.
- Oversees the development of new initiatives within the Workforce Development Division (ie. those with the workforce development boards, professional organizations, community partners, government entities and other relevant stakeholders).).
- Work collaboratively with marketing personnel to promote workforce training throughout the region.
- Oversees the planning production and publication of both printed and computerized curriculum materials/ course syllabi, and marketing collateral including website oversite for division landing pages.
- Evaluates effectiveness of non-credit programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Oversees the establishment of course offerings consistent with identified industry needs.
- Facilitates the integration of credit and non-credit programs within the CCGE and as otherwise appropriate
- Represents the Vice President for Workforce Development as requested at college and community events when necessary
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
